Karim spent six years as a graphic designer and three more in digital marketing, seeing the same feedback chaos from both sides: a red circle drawn in Paint captioned “like this but bigger,” or a WhatsApp voice note asking to “make it pop” with no way to point at what that meant. He built LayerReview so feedback lives directly on the file, not scattered across screenshots and sticky notes.

Why not just use Filestage or GoVisually?
Filestage, GoVisually, and ReviewStudio are genuinely good tools, and if you’re running a twelve-person creative department with a multi-stage approval chain, they’re probably the right call. LayerReview exists for a narrower problem: one freelancer, a handful of active clients, and a review process that shouldn’t need per-seat pricing or a workflow builder. Most of these platforms also ask your client to sign in before they can leave feedback. LayerReview never does.
Is LayerReview website markup software?
Sort of. LayerReview isn’t for marking up a live, already-built website. It’s for marking up the website design before it’s built: the mockup, exported as an image or PDF. Clients pin, highlight, and comment directly on that design, the same way they would on any other file in LayerReview. In practice that means a Figma export saved as a PNG or PDF, a homepage comp flattened to an image, or a full site walkthrough exported as a multi-page PDF, uploaded to LayerReview using the same pin, highlight, and comment annotation tools as any other design file.
